DEPRAG Schulz - Micro-Assembly-System
Assembly in the smallest of work areas
The micro-assembly-system DCAM-XS from DEPRAG Schulz fulfils all market requirements for a modern micro-assembly-machine. It is extremely small, fast, precise and flexible. The new model has been developed from the successful DCAM family (DEPRAG Compact Assembly Module) by the specialists for automation and assembly from Amberg, Bavaria. The outstanding characteristics: Extremely small size and unrivalled short conversion times of the module.

Screwdriving, labelling, palletising, clipping, laser inscribing, welding, and gluing of the smallest components- the new assembly machine can carry out numerous functions. Many small component parts can be assembled, a razor put together, an electric toothbrush or a digital camera…The DCAM-XS is converted in a few minutes for various assembly steps.

So the standard assembly platform is suitable for the most varied of assembly and test tasks: For production of micro-systems in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industry, for intricate assemblies in the electrical industry or for medical technology, for dealing with the smallest connection elements; e.g. for screw assembly of mobile phones.

The Micro-Assembly-System is only 450 x 802 x 680 mm in width, depth and height and is lightweight allowing uncomplicated transportation. The working range is 176 x 176 x 80 mm with a position accuracy of plus/minus 1 µm.

The short conversion time of the machine is unbeatable at under a minute. The feeders or process modules can be exchanged for the first time without readjustment of the pick-point. The machine setter simply moves the feeder loading device in the DCAM-XS and connects the energy and signal lines. The feeder is changed easily by hand.

Speed and flexibility are the main requirements of a modern efficient assembly system. The DCAM-XS can reach processing speeds of 3.7 metres per second. The DEPRAG innovation also distinguishes itself and is unrivalled in short exchange times for bit or screw module changeovers. New entry for the pick position on the feeder or place position on the screw part is no longer necessary. The system can choose screw specific parameters independently. The operator saves time because readjustments are no longer necessary. The changeover, for example from "Pick & Place" supply to a "Blow-feeding" system, is carried out effortlessly and in no time at all.

The newly designed touch screen of the industry PC with self-explanatory symbols eases the direct and fast choice of device functions. No more difficult to understand navigation, the image sets itself up quickly. Mistaken entries with the mouse or keyboard are therefore eliminated. The clear symbol language of the touch screen shortens the familiarisation time of the operator, costly training is therefore unnecessary.

The maintenance of the Micro-Assembly-System occurs from a distance, over the internet. The DEPRAG specialist logs on through the IP-internet address and carries out online maintenance of the machine. This also includes the diagnosis as well as remote control of individual machine components. The mechanical parts of the module are maintenance free.

The DEPRAG designers attach great importance to efficiency in the clean room. The cables and pneumatic leads have been put together in such a way that the work for the regular cleaning necessary requires only a very short time. The required space for the DCAM-XS is reduced to a minimum. Relating to the useable movement area of the axes and the product to be processed, the size has been reduced to an optimal ratio which saves space and therefore production costs.

However, that is not all. The DCAM-XS guarantees the complete traceability of the data from the end product, as is necessary for medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry. Connection on MES to the production monitoring is also available. Two USB interfaces allow the user to transfer data simply for security of processing data in quality management or to configure various applications. If different products are to be assembled in the system then the machine controller inputs the necessary process data, such as position and number of screw sites. Conversion time is thereby clearly minimised.

The DCAM-XS basic version consists of a two-axis system based on linear servo motors, an industry PC and a control cabinet. Easy, one-handed access to the machine components is allowed through the soundproof protective housing. Additional electrical components, process and function modules, on the prepared base frame, can be optimally suited to fit individual requirements. Whether pneumatic or manual rotary tables, sliding tables, loading or palletising modules, a multitude of function modules, feeders and process modules; the list of well thought-out and detailed solutions for the most diverse applications is long and impressive.

For many decades the engineers of DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH u. CO. have been delivering innovative automation concepts. With 600 employees and presence in over 40 countries, the company offers full service for almost every field of industry. Now even in the smallest of work spaces DEPRAG has found a solution for each individual client's needs with the novel DCAM-XS.
