Ceramic chip antenna targeting wireless applications
Yageo Corporation announced the release of 8010 Ceramic Chip Antenna
catering to wireless applications in mouses, mobile phones and PDAs. In
support of 2.45GHz frequency, Yageo’s 8010 miniaturized antenna
solution features industry-leading transmission performance and an
additional 60% to 80% space saving on printed circuit board comparing
with its predecessor. Samples of the 8010 antenna have been sent to
major customers with mass production underway.
Yageo’s 8010 Ceramic Chip Antenna comes with an omni-directional
system, impedance bandwidth of 120MHz expandable to a maximum of 3.0dBi
and effective range of up to 60 meters.
Mr. Alan Lee, Yageo’s Vice President of Global Sales &
Marketing, said “In the absence of standardized specifications
for ceramic chip antenna, our customers look for antennae that come in
a wide range of sizes. To meet their needs, Yageo has developed a
series of ceramic chip antennae for GPS and WLAN applications employing
proprietary ceramic printing and material technology. The introduction
of Yageo’s superior 8010 marks our latest efforts to support
customers’ product innovation requirements. In anticipation of
increasing demand for electronic gadgets complete with multiple
functions, Yageo will continue to release upgraded miniaturized ceramic
chip antennae in the near future.”
Market for applications in support of 2.45GHz frequency including
wireless mouse, Bluetooth headsets and mobile phones has experienced
rapid growth. According to ABI research, shipment of Bluetooth enabled
mobile phones have reached 500 million units in 2006 and are projected
to exceed 1 billion by 2009. The launch of 8010 Ceramic Chip Antenna
will allow Yageo to take advantage of the growing 2.45GHz frequency
business.
