DC-DC converters with regulated power for high temperature applications
International Rectifier has launched the HTA family of high
temperature DC-DC converters for high power subsurface and high
temperature applications up to 185 degrees Celsius including down-hole
drilling, seismic and natural resource exploration, and jet engine
control electronics.
The new DC-DC converters are well suited as building blocks and intermediate bus converters for power systems. Available as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), the new converters significantly reduce design cycle time, size and design costs associated with high temperature applications.
The HTA series is capable of providing up to 20 W of output power over extreme case temperatures of minus 35 degrees Celsius to 185 degrees Celsius. The family of devices has an input voltage range of 150 V to 250 V and is offered in single and dual output configurations. Input and output are galvanically isolated to protect the output loads from catastrophic system failures at the input side and provide the flexibility of stacking several converters to achieve a higher output voltage.
Additional features include small size, low weight and high tolerance to environmental stresses such as wide temperature extremes and severe shock and vibration. Electrical and environmental qualification reports are available for order through local sales representatives.
