Wireless USB host controller enables wireless data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbits/s in a range of 3 meters
Specifically developed for PCI Express bus interfaces, the
µPD720171 Wireless USB host controller from NEC enables wireless
data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbits/s in a range of 3 meters.
NEC Electronics’ new µPD720171 Wireless USB host controller, which immediately broadens Gleichmann Electronics’ product portfolio, enables wireless data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbits/s between PCs that have MiniCard or Half-Minicard expansion cards and PC peripheral devices such as wireless hubs, printers, external storage equipment and digital cameras. Furthermore, the host controller, which is designed for PCI Express™ bus interfaces, can be directly connected to laptop computers via an ExpressCardTM slot.
The µPD720171 Wireless USB host controller is certified by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) and complies with the Wireless USB 1.0 specification and also to the Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI) specification. Both of these specifications were developed by Intel with support from Microsoft, NEC Corporation, Philips, Texas Instruments and other experts in Wireless USB technology.
Reference boards with the µPD720171 Wireless USB host controller are available upon request from Gleichmann Electronics.
