electronica & ProductronicaChina 2008, which was held at the
Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) from March 18 to 20,
2008, proved a great success and once again reflected the rapid growth
of electronics in China.
electronica & ProductronicaChina 2008 attracted 380 exhibitors from
19 countries, 40% of whom came from outside China, including group
delegations from Germany, Japan and Taiwan. The gross exhibition space
reached 23,000 m², a 30% increase compared with 2007. The record
number of exhibitors attracted 25,518 visitors who came to obtain
information on the latest products and technology solutions in the
entire electronics industry in China from electronic components through
to production technologies. There was a noticeable increase in both the
expertise of visitors and their regional and international proportion.
Leading electronics companies such as Tyco Electronics, Infineon,
Avago, Fuji, SEMIKRON, MITSUBISHI, EPCOS, OMRON, Phoenix and Truly
again presented their goods and services at SNIEC; well-known firms
from the electronics manufacturing sector, for example JAM, Komax,
KODERA, Almit, ShinMaywa and Schleuniger, also booked in advance to
gain a better position; Panasonic, Jidian, MacMic, Chongqing Kingsun,
TDG Technology and Chu Lun Machinery took part in the show for the
first time.
The rapid growth of electronica & ProductronicaChina attracted the
attention of government officials from both China and Germany. Mr. Cao
Jian Lin, Vice Minister of the Chinese Science and Technology Ministry,
and Mr. Hartmut Schauerte, Parliamentary Secretary of State in the
German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, attended the show.
They both stated that electronica & ProductronicaChina provides an
ideal platform for German and international companies to showcase their
products and services in China, which is one of the world’s most
exciting markets. They also said that it promotes bilateral cooperation
and trade between China and Germany.
A win-win situation for exhibitors and visitors During the 3-day-show, a large number of discussions and meetings with
customers took place in the exhibition halls. electronica &
ProductronicaChina is already regarded by most exhibitors and visitors
as the leading electronics show in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Eric Yu, General Manager Avago Technologies in China, said that
progress has been discernible every year at electronica &
ProductronicaChina. He was greatly impressed by the very large increase
in the number of exhibitors, especially foreign exhibitors. Visitor
numbers are now increasing continuously and they come from more and
more countries.
Ms. Jacqueline A. Helfrich, Director of Marketing Communication and
Customer Management at Tyco Electronics, was very satisfied with the
expertise of visitors. She commented: ”The trade show is attended
by all our important customers. We can reach all the right people by
coming to the show.”
Mr. Guo Jian, General Manager of Japan Machine King Co., Ltd. also
said: “We met quite a large number of professional buyers at this
exhibition, which will definitely be a great help for our company. We
were very satisfied with electronica & Productronica China.”
Strong government support, added value for strengthening synergiesThe strategy of Messe München International is to foster growth
through cooperation with the strongest partners. At the instigation of
Messe München, Semicon China and CPCA were held concurrently with
electronica &ProductronicaChina. All the trade fairs including
LASER World of PHOTONICS were held for the first time in 2008 under the
umbrella of “Shanghai International IT and Electronics
Fair” (SIIEF). The sponsors of the SIIEF are two official
departments of the Shanghai city government, i.e. the Shanghai
Municipal Informatization Commission and Shanghai Pudong New Area
People’s Government.
The synergies produced the largest ever electronics event in China with
11 exhibition halls, a record-breaking exhibition area of 120,000
m² and a total number of 1995 exhibitors covering the entire
spectrum of the electronics industry in China.
Mr. Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Messe München
International, noted that the combination of the four events led to a
considerable increase in the both the number of exhibitors and
visitors. “We achieved this success this year thanks to the
support of the Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Government and
the Shanghai Municipal Informatization Commission. Staging the shows
together enables each individual event to attract more participants
than would be possible on their own.”
First-class conferences on the latest developmentsApart from showcasing the latest products and technologies, exhibitors
and visitors were also very interested in the accompanying conferences
on the latest topics in the exhibition sections.
The conferences – “The 2008 International Symposium on
Trends and Future Requirements in Automotive Electronics”,
“5th Mobile Communication IC Design & Application Senior
Technology Seminar”, “3rd International Connector
Technology Forum (ICTF 2008)” and “PCIM China 2008”
– provided a perfect communication platform for experts from all
over the world and attracted a total of more than 1,000 delegates.
Messe München International strengthens the trade fair program for SMT providers in Shanghai by cooperating with IPCAn important announcement was also made during the event: Messe
München International (MMI) will cooperate with “IPC –
